Then, something interesting happened! YouTube found a copyright issue!
I disputed it, of course, explaining that: “This is a general lesson about the 12-bar blues on the guitar (electric). It cannot be copyrighted with millions of songs using the same chord progression and swing rhythm as I play it here.”
This raises a valid point. If you play the blues, in its basic form (or anything common for that matter), there’s a high chance that you’ll sound like someone else.
I made this video to provide a framework for creating a solo guitar piece based on the common 12-bar blues template. So I had to go through the basics, like that specific chord progression in the key of E. That song “Only Blues”, which I allegedly copied (that I had never heard before ), apparently uses the same progression.
Solo guitar composition: How to make it original?
The good news is that it didn’t flag anything towards the end, where I demonstrate more creative and original ideas.
This brings another crucial point: even with the most common and basic music patterns, you can still find your unique way of expressing your voice, sound and style.
