ABOUT UDI
Hi, I’m Udi Glaser
I’m a guitarist, composer and teacher based in London. For over twenty years I’ve helped guitarists do the thing most never learn: move beyond copying songs to writing music that’s truly their own.

The moment it clicked
Years ago, a teacher of mine told me to sing. I was too shy, so he sang a short, happy tune on the spot and found it on the guitar in seconds. I was amazed - and it taught me something I’ve built my whole approach around ever since: composing isn’t a gift handed to a lucky few. It’s emotion translated into sound, and everyone has music inside them waiting to be uncovered. (That teacher, Gilad Benamram, is now a film composer in Hollywood.)
A lifelong musical journey
I picked up a guitar in 1991 and never really put it down. Over the years I’ve played with bands and ensembles, worked as a session player and recording artist, and kept studying the whole time. I hold a BA in Musicology & Philosophy, a Diploma in Sound Control, and a certificate in Orchestrating & Producing Music for Film and Games - for which I was granted a scholarship in the name of Jeff Beck. I also completed an MA in Music Psychology (Distinction), where I researched music creativity. I write a column for Guitar World, and I’m a registered tutor with the Registry of Guitar Tutors at the London College of Music.
Why I teach creating, not copying
Most guitar teaching stops at learning other people’s songs, scales and licks. That builds technique - but it’s also why so many players plateau and feel their music all sounds the same. My work adds the missing half: helping you turn what you can play into music of your own. I distilled that into a method I call SEEDS - Sow a melodic seed, then Elevate, Enrich, Develop and Share it into a finished piece.
What I’ve made for you
If you want to create your own music, here’s where to start: my book The Art of Solo Guitar Composition lays out the full SEEDS method; my 5-5-5 practice app gives you a focused fifteen-minute daily routine; and my guitar community is where guitarists share their music and get feedback from me and each other. Wherever you are on your journey, there’s a place for you.
Let’s make music that’s yours
