This is for you if you’re into guitar practice! Every day, I post this on my guitar composition Facebook group: “Your daily reminder: Spend quality time with your guitar”.
I post it because we need daily reminders to do things we love beyond our routines, as life always gets in the way. Work, family, commitments…
If we don’t do it, one day will turn into a few days, and then after a few weeks, we’ll realise we haven’t touched the guitar at all!
If you don’t block time with yourself in your calendar titled “guitar practice” – it won’t happen.
Monks, for example, practice meditation daily. They remind themselves to be in the now and raise their awareness. Meditation is a skill and a state of mind.
The same is true of playing the guitar. It’s a skill we need to maintain and a state of mind we embrace. It can be a time to relax, escape the troubles around us, or deal with our emotions.
Like marriage, we must sustain relationships by making things more exciting and fun. If every day is the same, it becomes a boring routine.
Your relationship with the guitar is similar. In a way, it’s an indirect relationship with yourself.
So, if you play the same thing and don’t invest the time and effort to make it more exciting, your passion will eventually fade.
Many things! For example:
The list is endless…
